The Building Blocks of a Sense of Self: Exploring the Five Aggregates
A Five-Week Intermediate Mindfulness Course
Thursdays, May 12, 19, & 26 and June 2 & 9 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm
3180 18th Street, Suite #437, at Treat Ave. (Entrance on Treat)
Mission Dharma is pleased to offer a five-week, intermediate course on practicing with the five aggregates of clinging: form, feeling-tone (vedana), volitional formations, perception, and consciousness. The Buddha taught that we can be liberated from suffering by developing insight into the impermanent and impersonal nature of these five aggregates, which our minds are in the habit of mistakenly viewing as "self." This course will address approaches to practicing with the five aggregates which can be used during daily life and carried into silent retreat.
This small course, limited to five participants, is appropriate for those who have an established insight meditation practice and some experience with silent retreat practice. Each class will include group meditation, a discussion focused on practicing with the five aggregates, and question and answer sessions.
The course requires a $30 registration fee to help cover rental costs and submission of a registration form by clicking here. Please keep in mind that the teacher is supported by dana (donations).
The registration fee must be paid in advance. However, if there are particular circumstances that prevent you from being able to pay the registration fee, please describe those on the registration form; no one will be turned away for lack of funds. To register, fill out the registration form by clicking here.
